Grill is a name synonymous with short track racing success in the South, and Augie Grill has lived up to that reputation in more than one way. Racing was fused into Grill’s blood at birth, as his father is renowned Grand American Race Cars (GARC) late model chassis builder, Frank Grill. Augie Grill grew up in the shop with his dad, and it was not long before he, too, began building chassis.
In 2003, at 26 years old, Grill fulfilled a lifelong dream by stepping into his father’s late model and becoming the GARC house driver. Grill and his team traveled throughout the Deep South region competing in large caliber late model events and have brought home trophies from some very prestigious races. Grill was the back-to-back 2007 and 2008 Snowball Derby Champion, the 2007 and 2009 Rattler 250 winner, and the 2009 & 2011 Snowflake 100 victor. He also took the 2011 Glass City 200 at Toledo, the 2012 and 2013 Florida Governor's Cup 200 and the 2013 Cracker 200
Grill says his father’s influence has been the most beneficial in his career and is thankful for the opportunities he’s been presented with. In his spare time, just like most racers, Grill prefers to spend his time in the shop working on his cars, as well as those of others, but also tries to find time to get out on the lake and spend time with his family.
